Voting ends in bypoll of four Assembly segments of Manipur

Imphal, Nov 7 (UNI) Voting for four Assembly constituencies were
held today from 0700 hours to 1700 hours amid the Covid pandemic.
The poll process started slowly as special arrangements were made in view
of the Covid pandemic. Voting picked up slowly and by noon it was
more than 40 per cent. As the voting ended it was estimated that the
poll percentage will be over 85 per cent.
There was delay in some polling stations as EVMs were not working.
Saitu Congress candidate Lamtinthang Haokip has condemned the arrest
of the BJP led government for arresting Election Chief Agent of
Congress candidate and Secretary of INC Candidate today. He said
there were large numbers of complaints of booth capturing and
threatening Congress workers in Saitu.
In all the four constituencies female voters were more than male
voters and eight were registered as third gender. In all the 203
polling stations nine poll officials including two paramedics
performed their duties.
In Wangoi former Congress MLA, Oinam Lukhoi Singh now a BJP Candidate
will fight against Salam Joy Singh of Indian National Congress and
Khuraijam Loken Singh of National People's Party (NPP).
Lilong has three candidates. Md Azizul Haque Khan of Indian
National Congress (INC) will fight against former Congress MLA, Mohd
Abdul Nasir (Ind) and Y. Antas Khan (Ind). Former Congress MLA and
now BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip will fight against Lamtinthang
Haokip of Indian National Congress (INC) in Saitu.
In Wangjing Tentha, Moirangthem Hemanta Singh of Indian National
Congress (INC) will contest against S. Manaobi, Independent and former
Congress MLA Paonam Brojen Singh now a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
candidate.
