Sustained assistance to MSMEs is the need of the hour: Expert

Nagpur, Nov 7 (KNN) With very little awareness amongst Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) industries about the various MSME related schemes and programmes available run by the government, a sustained assistance to these industries is the need of the hour, said B S Govind (Expert Faculty-Foundry), Institute of Indian Foundry.
He said this during a workshop organised by MIDC Industries Association (MIA) Nagpur, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in association with Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF Nagpur Chapter) organized recently at MIA House, Nagpur.
Apart from Govind, other foundry members too attended the workshop such as Dr Ravindra Aher of GIZ welcomed the dignitaries on the dias. PM Parlewar, Director MSME-DI, Nagpur graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Sarabjit Singh Saini- Technical Expert, GIZ and RG Paranjpe (Chairman IIF Nagpur Chapter).
The stakeholders and participants also visited the sites.
Some units like Jayaswal Neco Industries Ltd., Deepshikha Castings Pvt. Ltd. and Truform Techno Products Ltd. etc said they were extremely satisfied with the spot resolution of their problems and requested GIZ to schedule more of such visits by the experts in near future as well.
Sarabjot Singh Saini- Technology expert, GIZ explained the role of GIZ in assisting MSMEs across various verticals while PM Parlewar guided the audience with inputs on numerous MSME schemes and advised IIF- Nagpur Chapter to endeavour for Common Facility Center (CFC) and lean Manufacturing Cluster for Foundry Industries of the region.
Govind, during his gap analysis on the subject, mentioned that, foundry / foundries work environment must be clean and damage or pollution of environment should be avoided at any cost. He also touched upon the topics of reclamation / reuse of foundry sand to avoid damage to the work environment.
He expressed concern on the technical education imparted to students at educational institutions and stressed on fundamental knowledge of engineering principals / subjects.
''One must have love for the subject/ profession to be successful in opted discipline. Professionals should have utmost interest in technology development. SOP set in industry should be followed in letter and spirit, not to neglect quality assurance and concentrating on root cause analysis of problems experienced by industries.'' Govind said.
He shared his vast experience with the audience and members were spellbound by his talk on the subject. There was tremendous response from members during interactive sessions by way of numerous queries on the subject and the same were responded by Govind as a true professional.
