Hyderabad: Woman held for Dharani land portal misuse

1 ACRE 32 GUNTAS SOLD
HYDERABAD: In one of the first instances of Dharani portal being misused, a woman transferred land on her daughter’s name a year after she had sold the same piece of land to another person in Pedda Adisharlapalli mandal in Nalgonda district.
Nalgonda SP AV Ranganath on Friday said a cheating case was filed against Vijayalaxmi and arrested. After Vijayalaxmi sold the land of one acre 32 guntas on August 14, 2019, Kotla Jagadeesh, who purchased it, made plots and sold them. However, much to his shock when he was checking the Dharani portal, he saw the land being in the name of Vijayalaxmi’s daughter Priyanka. Vijayalaxmi got the land transferred on to her daughter’s name on November 4 on the Dharani portal and got the related documents from the officials concerned.
When Jagadeesh approached tahsildar Devadas, he was told that the land was still in Vijayalaxmi’s name and that they could only go by the official records. After the land had been sold to Jagadeesh, the mutation process had not taken place to get the land in his name in the land records. Collector Prashant Patil and Ranganath warned people against indulging in frauds as the purpose of Dharani portal itself was to show clear records of land ownership.
In a related issue about land conversion pertaining to same piece of land a few years ago, a former VRO MD Niranjan and a girdavar (revenue staff) Ramanjaneyulu involved in wrong-doing were suspended by collector. Article of charges have also been framed against then tahsildar of Pedda Adisharlapalli mandal Mohammed Samad and sent to the CCLA for further action to be taken against the retired official.
