Ghaziabad: A businessman from Ghaziabad missing from his house since October 27 was over a week later found in Kolkata, police said on Friday. The ‘rescued’ businessman, Parag Ghosh, had allegedly left home owing to financial troubles.
A resident of Ashiana Palm Court in Raj Nagar Extension, Ghosh had left home around 10am on October 27 to go to Indirapuram for a meeting. He had told his wife that he would be home for lunch but never returned. An FIR was lodged under IPC Section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with an intent of secretly and wrongfully confining person) on October 28.
The police found CCTV footage in which Ghosh was seen withdrawing Rs 47,000 from an ATM in Indirapuram around 11am. He was also seen crossing Ghazipur toll booth to go towards Delhi around 1.40 pm on October 27.
Circle officer-1 (city) Abhay Kumar Mishra said Ghosh stayed in a hotel in Delhi till October 29, after which he went to Himachal Pradesh where he stayed till November 3. On November 4, he returned to Delhi and took a train to Kolkata.
After the police traced his location, “a team of three police officers were sent to Kolkata on November 5 night after we came to know that Ghosh was staying in Continental Guest House in Kolkata. A team took a room adjacent to his room and kept an eye on his movement but he didn’t come outside for the entire night,” an officer said.
“Ghosh said he was disturbed as his food court in IIT Roorkee was shut and he didn’t earn any money from it due to the ongoing pandemic. He had opened a grocery store in Indirapuram during lockdown that didn’t turn out well,” a cop said.
