LUCKNOW: The city continued to record the highest number of
Covid-19 cases and
deaths in the state on Friday too as 288 more persons were diagnosed with the disease and five died of it in the past 24 hours.
While the number of new cases in Lucknow accounted for 13% of the total in UP, the number of deaths constituted 20% of the overall casualties.
Within the city, Indiranagar and Gomtinagar clocked the maximum number of cases. In Indiranagar and Gomtinagar, 29 and 28 residents
tested positive for Covid-19 respectively. The two areas were followed by Rae Bareli Road (18) and Hazratganj (17). Alambagh, Aliganj, Aashiana, Vikasnagar and Chinhat registered 11cases each, while Cantonment and Chowk recorded 10 new patients each.
With this, the city’s total caseload since the
disease’s outbreak reached 64,844 on Friday. Of these, 93.6% (60,758) — including 256 on Friday — have recovered, while 1.4% (910) died. Of the 3,176 `active cases, 1,906 are in home quarantine and the remaining in hospitals.
Three patients including two women died during treatment in
King George’s Medical University in the past 24 hours.
The two women - aged 50 and 52 years - died due to
multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and
cardiopulmonary arrest respectively.
A 45-year-old male patient succumbed to septic shock.
