Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami did not get any relief from the Bombay High Court on Thursday. His interim bail petition will be heard again on Friday. Goswami's interim bail plea says that the police have illegally detained him. Since the magistrate has expressed his inability to hear the bail application due to lack of jurisdiction, the petition has been filed in the High Court.
While hearing the case, a division bench of Justice SS Shinde and Justice MS Karnik said that we will pronounce our verdict after hearing all the parties in the matter. In this case, the state government and the complainant also have the right to speak, so the interim relief application will be heard on Friday.
Goswami is accused of abetting interior designer Anvay Naik to commit suicide. In this case, Raigad police arrested Arnab from his house in Lower Parel on Wednesday. The Magistrate Court of Alibaug has sent him to judicial custody till November 18. Arnab has requested the High Court to cancel the case, grant interim bail, and stays the investigation.
Political retaliation and retaliation
On behalf of Goswami, senior advocate Abad Ponda argued in the High Court. He said the arrests were made under political vendetta and vengeance. The interior designer was paid 90 percent. Since the account was inactive, the money was returned. The new police investigation is contrary to the laid down principles of criminal law. The police had earlier filed a report regarding the matter. This report is filed to close the case. It was accepted by the magistrate and no one has challenged. The police have only informed the magistrate to initiate an investigation, not taking permission. This process has not been followed in this case.
Arnab has been arrested illegally
Advocate Ponda said in his plea that the police have illegally detained my client. We have come to the court against the police, so the complainant has not been made a party. We should be allowed to make the complainant a party. In this case, giving bail to my client will not have any adverse effect on the case.
Shiv Sena targets BJP, says- Stop crying for gimmicks
The Shiv Sena has attacked the BJP for calling the arrest of Arnab Goswami as a dark day and freedom of the press. Shiv Sena wrote in the mouthpiece that it is amazing that from state BJP leaders to Union ministers are also alleging that there is a state of emergency in Maharashtra due to Arnab's arrest, whereas Ramrajya is here.
Shiv Sena in the mouthpiece 'This is Ram Rajya only! The editorial published under the title 'Stop beating the chest for gimmicks' has targeted the BJP. The editorial states that when a journalist was arrested for writing against the state government in Gujarat and many journalists were killed in Uttar Pradesh, there was no recollection of the Emergency.
