Sensex, Nifty maintain rising spree amid US election; RIL, M&M, HDFC twins in fast lane

Indian rupee appreciated against the greenback tracking positive performance in the domestic equities market.

The market continued to perform on a higher note as US election nears outcome. However, compared to the previous three trading session, the upside has been at a slower pace tracking global cues.

At around 11.16 AM, Sensex was trading at 41,587.69 above 247.53 points or 0.60%. While Nifty traded at 12,177.05  higher by 56.75 points or 0.47%.

Top performers on Sensex were - RIL (+3%), followed by M&M and Bajaj Finserv zoomed by 2% each. HDFC Bank and HDFC gained by 1% each.

Underperforming stocks on Sensex were - Marut Suzuki and Nestle down 2% each. Asian Paint, Ultratech Cement and Axis Bank below 1% each.

BSE recorded 14 advances and 16 declines. While Nifty 50 saw 23 advances and 27 declines.

Indian rupee appreciated against the greenback tracking positive performance in the domestic equities market. In the opening session, the rupee was higher by 39 paise at 73.99 against the US dollar index.

The local currency trades above 74-level against dollar.
