The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the central government to ban chemical spraying on people in disinfected tunnels to avoid the concoction of Kovid-19. This decision has been taken by the apex court in view of its harmful effect.
A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, Justice R. Subhash Reddy, and Justice MR Shah said that various studies suggest that such chemical spraying and ultraviolet rays have harmful effects on the human body. The bench said that since it is a matter related to the health of the people, immediate measures need to be taken. The bench also said that it is not enough to just state that the government has not issued a guideline on its use.
The apex court has asked the central government to issue necessary instructions in this regard within a month. The bench asked the government not to wait for the last day to issue directions. The apex court has given this order on a PIL filed by law student Gursimran Singh Narula. The petition called for a ban on disinfected tunnels.
Last September, the government told the Supreme Court that it had not issued any guidelines for the installation and use of disinfection tunnels in the workplace and in public places. The government had said that chemical spraying on humans could be harmful to human health. The government had said at that time that necessary instructions could be issued in this regard.
