The Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Establishments demands tourist restaurants to be excluded from business curfew

Adel al-Masry, the Head of the Egyptian Chamber of Tourism Establishments, has recently demanded that the tourist restaurants should be excluded from the forthcoming business curfew by the government.


In a telephonic interview with the Al-Hekaya program on MBC Masr, Masry explained that if the tourist restaurants are closed early, it would be catastrophic incident, as the business scenario at present is only covering overhead as its operating at a mere 50 percent capacity.


Unlike the other restaurants, tourist restaurants are different he said, explaining that they are more into supervision and requirements of the Ministry of Tourism, like periodic sterilization and mandatory mask-wearing.


Masry advised on the extension of working hours of tourist restaurants until 1 am. This would make them able to receive the largest number of visitors.


The Egyptian Cabinet’s spokesperson, Nader Saad on Monday has unveiled plans for new business regulations on the anxiety of a second wave of coronavirus in the country.


Saad forecasted that in the winters, the new restaurant closing times would be between 10 pm and 12 am, and 11 pm and 1 am in the summer months.
