CHENNAI: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Friday began the countdown for the launch of PSLV-C49 carrying all weather earth imaging satellite EOS-01 and nine foreign satellites.
The 26-hour countdown began at 1.02pm. The launch is scheduled for 3.02pm on Saturday from the first launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. This will be the first launch this year.
It will be the 51st flight of PSLV and 76th launch vehicle mission from Sriharikota spaceport. It will also be the second flight of PSLV with ‘DL’ variant with two strap-on boosters.
The rocket’s primary payload EOS-01, earlier known as RISAT-2BR2, is an earth observation satellite, intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support. Nine satellites, including four each from the US and Luxembourg and one from Lithuania, will piggyback with the main payload.
