GURUGRAM: Two persons were killed and 14 others injured when a bus crashed into a truck parked on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Kalwadi village in Nuh’s Tauru due to poor visibility early on Thursday morning. The truck driver has been booked.
According to police, the 50-seater bus left with 100 passengers from Ludhiana in Punjab and was leaving for Bihar.
Around 5.45am on Thursday, the bus rammed into a truck carrying cement and other construction materials parked on the expressway. The bus driver wasn’t able to see the truck due to poor visibility caused by smog, and both vehicles turned turtle due to the impact.
Bus driver Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Jammu, and Mohd Akbar from Bihar — a passenger who was sitting near him — died on the spot. The truck driver fled after witnessing the crash.
The co-driver and three other seriously injured people were admitted to the medical college at Nalhar in Nuh, while 10 others have been admitted to a private hospital in Tauru.
Sub-inspector Vir Singh, who is the investigating officer, said the family of the two persons who died have been informed and will reach Tauru on Friday. The bodies will be handed over to them after autopsy.
“An FIR has been registered against the truck driver under sections 279 (rash driving), 304 (death by negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) and others of the IPC at Tauru city police station. We will issue summons to the truck owner to get the details of the driver, who has fled. We are trying to arrest him,” Singh said.
