The UT Administration may restart Apni Mandis in various sectors soon.
The Market Committee has floated tenders for allotment of sanitation work of the mandis. The mandis were suspended in March in the wake of the pandemic.
The MC General House had recently passed a resolution for restarting the mandis. Councillors had argued that small farmers and consumers were suffering as the Administration was not allowing the mandis to function.
After the lockdown was lifted, most of the commercial activities were allowed to open outside containment zones and the Administration should also allow the Apni Mandis to operate, they had stated.
An official said UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore would take the final decision on restarting mandis after reviewing all factors.
