US State of Georgia official says vote counting expected to wrap up 10 days after election

WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Sputnik) Vote counting in the US state of Georgia will be complete ten days after the election at the latest, a state elections official said.
"We anticipate having the count, quote-on-quote, done when the legal deadline for certification is, which is going to be ten days after the election," Voting Implementation Manager Gabriel Sterling said in a press conference on Thursday.
Georgia is one of the five so-called battleground states where votes from the US presidential and general election are still being counted.
Sterling said there are about 42,000 ballots left to count.
Earlier on Thursday, Sterling said he expected the election workers in Georgia to finish counting by the end on the day.
Fox News shows President Donald Trump leading in Georgia by less than 1 percent with 99 percent of the votes counted.
