The Karnataka tourism department is making detailed plans for getting the tourism sector back on track. Feeling motivated by the sero survey, the state is heading towards herd immunity. “The report was encouraging,’’ said the Managing Director of Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) Kumar Pushkar.
“Covid-19 numbers have come down from 10,000 per day to around 3,000 a day. Things are improving,” Mr. Pushkar said.
The Karnataka tourism department is preparing an action plan for promoting safe tourism in the current scenario with the help of multimedia campaigns. The department is also planning roadshows in neighboring states for promoting safe tourism in Karnataka.
As reports surface about spike in corona infections during the approaching winter season and a possible second wave, the Karnataka tourism department is hopeful that it wouldn’t affect tourism in any way.
Mr. Pushkar said that the occupancy rate in KSTDC hotels is still just 27 per cent. “We are picking up slowly,’’ he said.
