BHOPAL :Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said that social change is not possible with governments but through social leadership. Bhagwat was addressing the two-day meeting of the central region working committee here at Sharda Vihar.
"We should transform the power of society for developing social harmony, environment conservation and resolve family issues permanently through social leadership as it is not possible to change society on the basis of governments. Social change is possible only due to social leadership," said Bhagwat.
The Sarsanghchalak is on a four-day visit to the state capital to address issues related to national interest and to review the works undertaken by the BJP ruled governments for Atma-Nirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) campaign besides, welfare undertaken for the poor, reserved class and migrant labourers. RSS Sarkaryawah Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi and top cadre from the central zone comprising 40 members from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh attended the meeting.
Bhagwat also called upon to take advantage of the lockdown period to strengthen the society. He said during Covid-19 pandemic, solutions to the problems of the society could only be possible through the society itself.
"During the Corona pandemic, public confidence in Sangh Parivar has increased, as a result many new volunteers and organisations have come in contact with the RSS during the lockdown period. We should organise this social power to give impetus to our efforts to work among the society," he said.
Bhagwat, who advocated for Atma Nirbhar Bharat said that the spirit of self-reliance should be established permanently in the society. He said RSS Shakhas (branches) will resume field work in small groups.
"Sangh was active through virtual means during Covid-19 pandemic. This will be gradually taken among the society to give pace to the work. During adverse circumstances amid Corona spread it was not possible to organise Shakhas in open. Now keeping the Covid-19 guidelines into account, this has to be taken to ground level in small groups," he said.
Sarsanghchalak also stressed upon the need for environment protection. "We need to make special efforts for environmental protection. Many projects are being run by the volunteers for conservation of the environment in the country. This includes binding the sand bags to conserve water by different organisations and workers," he said.
"Many awareness campaigns are being conducted by the workers to ensure that plastic, the most harmful to the environment, is not used by the society. Special activities for environmental protection like plantation of Ayurvedic and medicinal plants at homes, are being done by the volunteers in many places. This also includes explaining the importance of trees to the people," said Bhagwat.
The RSS chief and his deputy Bhaiyyaji Joshi also met BJP leaders during their three-day sojourn. The two leaders are likely to leave for Nagpur on Saturday, said sources in RSS.
