New Delhi: Television advertising saw its highest ever as volume during the week 43 of 2020 which started from October 24 to October 30, according to the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC), indicating a recovery in the advertising spends of brands after the pandemic induced slowdown.

The duration recorded 38,705,978 million seconds of advertising on TV which is the highest since week 16 of 2015.

The growth was on account of big ticket advertising properties such as IPL and the ongoing festival season which accounts for almost 40 percent of sales for consumer brands.

This is the biggest shopping season for India prompting brands to shell out more for advertising and promotions.

The Covid-19 pandemic and the following lockdown had made brands curtail their purse strings as consumers stopped discretionary spends.
