MADURAI: A 16-year-old boy in Madurai ended his life on Wednesday by hanging after his parents scolded him for playing games on mobile phone and snatched the device away from him.
According to police, the boy who lived in Gandhi 2nd Street at Sambakulam in K Pudur, was addicted to a wide range of phone games. The time he spent on games had gone up during the lockdown, they said.
His parents recently scolded him and snatched the device away. Frustrated over this, the boy ended his life while his parents were away from home. The parents found his body when they returned home on Wednesday evening and alerted the K Pudur police, who shifted the body to Government Rajaji Hospital for postmortem.
Based on a complaint from the father, a case was registered.
