Nissan Magnite: Top Things To Know About Nissan’s All-New Compact-SUV For India!
Nissan India is all set to introduce an all-new product in the Indian market, in the form of the Magnite. The new Nissan Magnite is a global product which will be manufactured in India, with the country also being the first market for the SUV.
The Nissan Magnite is an important model for the brand, with the potential of being a game-changer in terms of its future in the market. The Nissan Magnite once launched, will be positioned in the highly-competitive sub-4 metre compact-SUV segment. It will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra XUV300 to name a few.

While Nissan is yet to announce an official launch date for the Magnite SUV, they have released the compact-SUVs brochure online, revealing most of the details of the upcoming model. Ahead of its launch, here are the top things to know about the all-new Nissan Magnite:

Power & Torque
The Nissan Magnite once launched will come powered by two engine options. This includes a 10-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 70bhp at 6250rpm and 96Nm of peak torque at 3500rpm. The engine will further be mated to a standard five-speed manual gearbox.
There will also be a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine on offer. This engine will come with the option of either a five-speed manual or a six-speed CVT automatic transmission. The engine produces 100bhp and 160Nm of torque when mated with the manual gearbox, while the engine with the CVT transmission churns out 100bhp and 152Nm of peak torque.

Top Speed & Acceleration
Nissan is yet to officially announce the performance figures of the Magnite. However, based on the engine specifications, weight, dimensions and performance of its rivals, we have made some assumptions.

The top-spec Nissan Magnite with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol should be able to reach a top speed of around 150km/h. This figure, however, will be slightly less on the standard 1.0-litre engine offered on the lower variants. In terms of performance, we estimate that the Nissan Magnite should be able to complete a 0 - 100km/h sprint in a little over 12 seconds.
Note: All the above performance and top speed figures mentioned are assumptions at this point. We will update the actual/claimed acceleration and top speed figures as and when officially announced by Nissan India.

Mileage & Fuel Tank Capacity
Nissan has revealed that the 1.0-litre NA petrol-powered Magnite will return a mileage figure of 18.75km/l. The more powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, on the other hand, claims to return fuel efficiency figures of 20km/l and 17.7km/l from its manual and CVT-equipped variants, respectively. All these figures are ARAI-certified and will differ slightly in the real world, depending on a number of external factors.
The Nissan Magnite is said to come with a 40-litre fuel tank capacity, which should give it a maximum range of 800km on a single tank.

Seating Capacity & Boot Space
The new Nissan Magnite is strictly a five-seater compact-SUV. The SUV offers good knee and headroom, with sufficient under-thigh support for all passengers.
In terms of boot space, the Nissan Magnite with all the seats upright offers 336-litres of luggage space. The SUV also comes with the option of folding down the second-row of seats, extending the space to 690-litres.

Overall Dimensions & Turning Radius
Being a sub-4 metre, the dimensions of the new Nissan Magnite is similar to most of its rivals in the segment. Here are the dimensions of the new Nissan Magnite:
- Length: 3994mm
- Width: 1758mm
- Height: 1572mm
- Wheelbase: 2500mm
The turning radius of the new Nissan Magnite at 5-metres is also similar to its other rivals in the segment.

Ground Clearance & Tyre Size
The Nissan Magnite offers an excellent ground clearance of 205mm, which is pretty impressive for a compact-SUV model. This should help the Magnite glide over any and all undulations, although such a high ground clearance for a sub-4-metre SUV might have an effect on the driving dynamics.
The Nissan Magnite offers 16-inch wheels across all variants of the SUV. However, while the lower trims come with 16-inch steel wheels, the top-spec features diamond-cut alloys. Nissan also offers the Magnite with a 15-inch spare wheel.

Variants & Colour Options
The Nissan Magnite once introduced in India will be offered in four variants: XE, XL, XV and XV (Premium). All four variants will come packed with a host of features and equipment.
In terms of colour options, Nissan will be offering the Magnite with a choice of eight paint schemes: four mono-tone and four dual-tone options. The mono-tone colours include Blade Silver, Sandstone Brown, Onyx Black and Storm White.
Similarly, the dual-tone options on the Nissan Magnite include: Flare Garnet Red/Onyx Black, Tourmaline Brown/Onyx Black, Pearl White/Onyx Black and Vivid Blue/Storm White.

Price Expectations
Nissan is yet to officially announce a launch date for their Magnite compact-SUV in the Indian market. Prices will be announced at the time of launch, however, expectations are that the SUV will be offered in a range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 11 lakh, ex-showroom.

Thoughts On The All-New Nissan Magnite
The Nissan Magnite is one of the most-awaited offerings from the brand in the Indian market. The compact-SUV seems to have already received a positive response in the market, since its global unveil recently and Nissan will be hoping to carry on this post its launch as well.
