NOIDA: Residents’ bodies have alleged that they are not getting adequate information about patients who have tested positive for
Covid and the measures being taken to keep tabs on them.
While 13 people, including a 78-year-old man, tested positive after they got themselves examined at a camp at Arun Vihar community centre, Sector 37, on Tuesday, the chairman of the local residents’ body said no follow-up visits were recorded till Wednesday.
Similar claims were raised by residents’ welfare associations (RWAs), including umbrella bodies like the Noida Federation of Apartments Association (NOFAA), and the Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA). “While 100 residents were tested at the camp, 13 tested positive (rapid antigen tests). The RT-PCR test results are awaited. Since then, there has been no follow-up for these patients,” said Colonel (retd) Shashi Vaid, chairman, Arun Vihar Residents Welfare Association that includes sectors 28, 29 and 37.
KK Jain, secretary general, FONRWA, said: “While all camp schedules are released by the city magistrate’s office, many RWAs say those who tested positive did not have any follow-up visits.”
Professor Rajesh Sahay, secretary general, NOFAA, which has 76 apartment complexes as its members, said that most of them did not have prior intimation about testing camps. “Without any prior information, we cannot announce it to the residents. Usually, these camps are scheduled on working days and even for people working from home, they have to be intimated to take out at least two hours to get themselves tested” said Sahay.
DM Suhas LY said all testing, surveillance and contact tracing operations and teams are working in proper coordination through the integrated Covid command control room. He said the residents’ allegations would be looked into. Meanwhile, more manpower has been added to teams on the ground, including 800 surveillance teams. “We have got five more members in the contact tracing team. Earlier it had 11 members,” said Dr Bharat Bhushan nodal officer in-charge of contact tracing in GB Nagar.
