US elections: Different rules in states, this is why there are delays in getting results

America does not have an institution like the Election Commission like India. At the same time, each state has its own laws, so all the states follow them and conduct the counting of votes. This is the reason why the official information of who won there and who got how many votes is not released through the government agency. Results are instead measured by trends released by news organizations such as Fox News and the Associated Press.

They have a compilation of statistics of counting of votes across the country, based on which they keep the status of candidates in different states and who has got how many electoral college votes.

A total of 538 electoral college votes are divided in proportion to the population in various states in the US. In a state in which the party which gets the most votes, all the votes of that state are considered. However, the counting of votes takes place everywhere at different times.

This is the reason why the counting of votes is done on the basis of clear trends, who are declared president. It takes several weeks for the actual counting and results to arrive. Winning certificates will be issued in New York and California on December 7 and 11.

This time it's over

Most citizens used postal ballots because of Corona. A large number of ballots are reaching after Tuesday. It is taking more time to count them.
