Principal Secy inspects sites for water supply project

The Principal Secretary of Department of Local Government, AK Sinha, and the CEO of Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company, Ajoy Sharma, visited some identified sites for 24x7 surface water supply project in Ludhiana.

Of these sites, one was likely to be finalised for the water treatment plant project. MC Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal was also present during the visit.

Notably, the Municipal Corporation had given its nod for the first phase of 24x7 water supply project during a meeting with the team of World Bank in March this year. The MC had been looking for a land in Rampur, Bowani or Bilaspur village and it had to finalise 50 acres of land in one of the villages as per information. In the first phase, it is supposed to acquire a land to setup water treatment plant as per sources.

Sabharwal said the officers inspected the sites for surface water supply project and reports in this regard will be sent to them. The discussion about development projects was also conducted with the officers. Besides, discussion was also conducted on beautification of Buddha Nullah, he said.

The commissioner said that a team has been formed to make a plan for beautification, plantation and landscaping of area along Buddha Nullah and they will submit the plan in coming days.

Meanwhile, MC Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh said higher officials also visited a factory at Hambran wherein coal was prepared from solid waste.
