Uttar Pradesh: Highest single day spike of 339 new Covid-19 cases reported from Noida

NOIDA: In a new and highest single day spike so far, GB Nagar recorded 339 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday while 177 patients recovered in the past 24 hours.
The total number of confirmed cases in the district on Wednesday were 18,679. According to the state report, there are 1,443 patients or 8% (07.72%) active cases in the district while 68 patients or 0.36% people have succumbed to the pandemic. In total, 17,168 or 92% (91.91%) patients have recovered from the disease in the district so far.
With 339 new cases, GB Nagar also topped UP in the total number of single day spike in cases on Wednesday where Lucknow came second at 277 cases followed by Meerut at 175 cases, Ghaziabad with 130 cases and Varanasi with 70 cases. Officials maintain the main reasons for the rise in numbers is more testing and increased movement of people due to festival season.
The GB Nagar administration also released a new list of 228 containment zones on Wednesday, where 221 containment zones are in category 1 and 7 containment zones are in category 2.
