Odisha reports 1474 new covid cases, 12 deaths'; Govt bans sale and use of firecrackers

Bhubaneswar, Nov 04 (UNI) As many as 1474 new covid cases and 12 deaths were reported in Odisha during the past 24 hours taking the tally to 2,95,889 and 1364 deaths.
Health and Family welfare department sources said 855 new covid cases and 619 local contacts cases were registered from 30 districts in the state in the past 24 hours.
During the period 12 covid patients died while under treatment from seven districts raising the covid toll in the state to 1364.
While three each died in Malkangiri and Mayurbhanj districts, two succumbed to the virus in Khordha district and one each in four other districts.
With the recovery of 1462 covid patients on Tuesday, the total recovery in the state rose to 2,80,553.The state has now 13,919 active cases under treatment.
Official sources said so far 47,36,246 tests were conducted in the state and out of them 2,95,889 have been infected with coronavirus of which already 2,80,553 have been cured and discharged from the hospital.
Only three districts in the past 24 hours have reported more than hundred new cases.They are Khordha( 175), Cuttack ( 120) and Sundargarh ( 104 ).
Khordha district has the highest number of covid positive cases as well as covid death.The district is fst approaching 50,000 cases as on date it has registered 49,286 cases and 236 deaths.
Cuttack district has the second highest number of covid positive cases ( 21293) while Ganjam with 230 deaths is placed second position in the district tally.
Meanwhile, keeping in view the approaching winter season and ensuing Deepavali and Kartika Purnima festivals, the State Government has prohibited the burning of firecrackers to protect the vulnerable groups like elderly, children, persons with co-morbidities and others.
Considering the potentially harmful consequences of burning of crackers amidst COVID-19 pandemic situation and approaching winter, the State Government has directed to prohibit the sale and use of fire crackers from November 10 to November, 30,2020 in public interest.
Any person found violating this order shall be punished under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant laws.
An order has already been issued by the government to this effect.
Experts have advised precautionary measures to be taken by people recovered from Covid and said asked persons recuperating from Covid to take protein rich food, warm water along with inhaling steam and practice regular exercise such as Yoga and Pranayam.
People developing any further symptoms and other ailments are advised to consult doctors.

State Coastal Security IPS Harman Preet Singh, South Bengal IGP IPS Rajib Mishra, DIG Presidency Range IPS Prabin Kumar Tripathi and Sundarbans Police Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Tewari were present at the office of the Superintendent of Police of Sundarbans Police District on Wednesday and honored the nine policemen.
Govardhanpur Coastal Police Officer-in-Charge Ajay Kumar Chand, ASI Nishant Marik, Constables Tapas Haldar and Prashant Pramanik, technical staff Raju Rao and civic volunteers Debashish Das, Dinesh Das, Tanmoy Sahu and Shukdev Giri were honored on the occasion.
On the occasion, the police officers highly praised the bravery of the policemen of Govardhanpur Coastal Police Station.
