Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan today strongly condemned Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for taking police custody and said that this act of anti-democracy and anti-journalism of the Maharashtra government is condemnable.
Shri Chauhan said through his Twitter that 'freedom of expression has been crushed in Maharashtra, freedom of the press has been taken away. Maharashtra has a worse situation than Emergency. Those who tried to crush democracy have finally ended themselves. The Congress is completely behind this anti-democracy move of the Maharashtra government. Congress has wired democratic traditions in the past as well.
The Chief Minister said, 'How the Congress crushed journalists and journalism during the Emergency was not hidden from anyone. Today, under the instigation of the Congress, the Maharashtra government has made the situation like Emergency again. I strongly condemn this act of anti-democracy, anti-journalism by the Maharashtra government.
