Palghar Police foil abduction bid of 2 for ransom, 5 arrested

Palghar, Nov 4 (UNI) The Rural Police have foiled a bid to allegedly abduct two people from Dadra-Nagar Haveli by a gang for a ransom and arrested five gang members in this connection.

On Monday a gang of eight waylaid the victims -- Govind Janya Vadu of Parzai I Khanvel of Dadra Nagar Haveli, and his friend.
The gang members snatched his mobile phone and the scooter while they were proceeding towards Jawahar and also attacked the duo, police said.
Near the Saiwan outpost, both the victims jumped from the vehicle and raised an alarm, at that time, police constable Bharsat, who was on duty at the outpost, came out and with the help of the locals pinned down two of the accused, who were escaping with the victims after abducting them for a ransom.
The accused, Avinash Bhoye and Raj alias Riaz Akhtar Shaikh, were arrested later, police said.
The Kasa police has registered a case under sections 395, 341, 364(A), 506 of Indian Penal Code and also sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act against the accused persons.
Police seized a sword from the accused.
Later, during the combing operation, police arrested three more accused today -- Bhaskar Kakad, Tejas Gavar and Sunil Mali.
Now, the hunt is on for other accused, sources added.
