Temporary licences issued for sale of firecrackers

Ludhiana, November 3

Complying with the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding clean and green Diwali by allowing limited sale of crackers, the district administration today held a draw for issuing 41 temporary licences for the sale of firecrackers in different areas of the district.

DC Varinder Sharma said 41 vendors had been allowed to sell crackers at eight earmarked sites in the district. He said the administration had received 389 applications in this regard.

The DC said of the total 75 applications received for Dana Mandi Salem Tabri, 13 licences had been allocated, while 93 applications were received for the GLADA ground in Sector 39, of which nine vends were given licences. — TNS
