Manipur govt to take up new Covid SOP as total cases reach 19,503

Imphal, Nov 4 (UNI) Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today chaired a meeting held to discuss on COVID-19 treatment, casualties and other related matters at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
During the meeting, issues regarding increase in the COVID mortality rate in the State, needs for increase in the number of COVID beds in hospitals and Covid Care Centre, ignorance on the part
of the public for early detection and treatment among others were discussed. Suggestions for addressing various issues were also sought from the members present in the meeting.
The meeting resolved to take up some new measures in order to deal with the COVID related issues.
Among the measures to be taken up are - a Committee formed on COVID related death would monitor the death of Covid and Covid associated patients in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
COVID-19 patients with co-morbid conditions would be given antiviral drugs.
Oximeters would be distributed to all Local Covid Committees for checking oxygen level of person with symptoms for early detection and reporting to the control room for necessary
action.
Besides, it was also resolved that basic COVID-19 treatment would be covered under Chief Minister gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT).
In the past twenty-four hours, 261 persons (147M, 114F) from general population and a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) man were confirmed as new COVIDI9 positive cases.

The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West
(124), Imphal East (47), Thoubal (18), Kangpokpi (6), Bishnupur (25),
Kakching (6), Senapati (1), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (9), Tamenglong
(15), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (2). All were locals
without any significant travel history.
They were being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures
like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, three persons aged 67 yrs (male, Imphal West), 77 yrs (male, Imphal East) and 56 yrs (male, Imphal East) expired at JNIMS Hospital. The cumulative number of deaths was 187.
The total number of discharged persons was 158. They were from CAPF (10), Home Isolation (54), JNIMS (6), RIMS (12), LKK (9), UNACCO (8), LANVA (2), RD Wing (10), PR Kakching (2), TK Ukhrul (1), Sadhbhavna (1), JNV Chandel (6), Noney (5), Tamenglong (5), Kangpokpi (3), Thoubal (4), Jiribam (2), Lamding (15) and Bishnupur (3).
The cumulative number of positive cases was 19,503 (General Population 16,714 and Central Security Personnel — 2,789).
The cumulative number of recovered cases was 15,618 (General Population — 13,136 and
Central Security Personnel — 2,482).
The number of active cases was 3,698 (General Population - 3,395 and Central Security Personnel -
303). The recovery rate was 80.07 %.
Testing is important to identify those who are infected and treatment/monitoring of the patients and implementation of mitigation strategies for preventing the spread of the disease.
Early testing and timely isolation of positive individuals will prevent potential super spreaders from infecting many other people.
Thus, early and mandatory testing will help in preventing spread of the pandemic said Dr.
