US Election Results 2020: RACE TO 270 | The US media has projected wins for Donald Trump so far in 19 states including Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee -- all states he won in 2016. Biden has captured 17 states including his home state Delaware and big prizes California and New York, as well as the US capital. As with Trump, so far, all states claimed by Biden were won by Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016. So far, that gives Biden 213 electoral votes and Trump a maximum of 138, because Nebraska splits its electoral votes based on congressional district. The magic number is 270. The following is a list of the states won by each candidate and the corresponding number of electoral votes, based on the projections of US media including CNN, Fox News, MSNBC/NBC News, ABC, CBS and The New York Times.

Twitter Hides Trump Tweet Claiming Biden 'Stealing the Election’ | Twitter hides Trump’s tweets where he predicted ‘big win' in US polls. “Some or all of the content shared in this Tweet is disputed and might be misleading about an election or other civic process,” a Twitter note said after Trump’s tweet was hidden by micro-blogging site.
'A big WIN': Donald Trump | “We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Polls are closed!” Trump tweeted minutes after Biden's statement. In a separate tweet, Trump said, "I will be making a statement tonight. A big WIN!"

‘We’re Going to Have to be Patient’: Joe Biden | “I am optimistic about this outcome…I am grateful to all my supporters. It's not over till every vote, every ballot is counted. Confident about Arizona, that's a turnaround, still in the game in Georgia. I am feeling really good about Wisconsin and Michigan. We're gonna win Pennsylvania, but it will take time to count votes,” Biden said in Delaware.
Trump's Campaign Advisor Unhappy With Fox News for calling Arizona for Joe Biden | Trump's campaign advisor has expressed displeasure over Fox News calling Arizona for Joe Biden. With the race being neck-and-neck, all news firms except Fox have avoided projecting a winner in Arizona, a crucial battleground state that Trump needs to capture to further his chances of re-election.
WAY too soon to be calling Arizona...way too soon. We believe over 2/3 of those outstanding Election Day voters are going to be for Trump. Can’t believe Fox was so anxious to pull the trigger here after taking so long to call Florida. Wow.

Biden Set to Speak Shortly on US Presidential Election Results | Democrat Joe Biden will speak shortly on the election results, as many of his key states remain too close to call. The Biden campaign gathered the press pool that covers him in Wilmington, Delaware, for an early Wednesday morning statement but offered no further guidance. Biden has spent the night watching the returns come in from his home, while reporters waited near the Chase Center in downtown Wilmington for potential remarks. Biden began his day early Tuesday with a handful of campaign stops across the all-important state of Pennsylvania as voters went to the polls. Hours after the polls have closed across America, however, the result of the presidential election remains unclear. A number of key states still have hundreds of thousands of ballots outstanding, after a large influx of mail ballots have slowed down the count in states across the nation.

Democrats Win Colorado, Republicans Pick Up Alabama in Battle for US Senate | Democrats picked up one seat in Colorado on Tuesday, while Republicans picked up a seat in Alabama and turned back challenges in Texas and South Carolina in the election battle for control of the US Senate. Republicans currently hold a majority of 53 seats in the 100-seat chamber. The battle spans 14 competitive races, though the final outcome may not be clear for some time. Ten remain to be called. Democrats need to win four seats to take a majority, or three if Joe Biden wins the White House, giving a Vice President Kamala Harris the tie-breaking vote. A Democratic victory could lead to a new era in US politics, if the party also captures the White House and holds onto the US House of Representatives.

A Round-up of US Election Results 2020 at 10:30am: | President Donald Trump was leading Democratic rival Joe Biden in the vital battleground state of Florida and in several other competitive swing states that will help decide the election, including North Carolina, Ohio and Texas. Fox News network projected Trump would win Florida. Biden was eyeing the so-called "blue wall" states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania that sent Trump to the White House in 2016, but vote counting could stretch for hours or days there. Trump held early leads in those three states, but much of that was built on Republican-heavy Election Day voting. The counting of mail-in ballots in all three states was expected to take hours or days. In Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, mail-in ballots cannot be processed until Election Day. Fox News projected Biden would win Arizona, giving him a potential path to victory with the "blue wall" states.
Trump Holds Slim Lead in North Carolina: Reuters | President Trump has a 1 point lead in North Carolina and a 3 point lead in Florida. A victory for Trump in those states forces Joe Biden to pursue wins in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, all three of which are "red mirage" states whose early votes are unlikely to be fully counted tonight.
Harmony: Opposing Trump and Biden Groups Make Music Together | For a brief and unexpected moment, there was harmony. Melody, too. A group of Donald Trump supporters and backers of Joe Biden started shouting at each other through bullhorns Tuesday night near a voting precinct in the Detroit suburb of Warren, and as tensions escalated, police were called in to keep the two sides separated. That was when Matthew Woods, a 59-year-old Trump supporter and traveling musician from Upland, California, who was dressed as a Revolutionary War soldier, challenged the Biden side to a sing-off. We sang My Country, Tis of Thee, God Bless America, Woods said of his group of about 20 people. At first, the 30 or so Biden supporters "refused to sing, though one sang Kumbaya. I walked over and stood beside them. The opposing groups holding signs for their candidates soon started singing together and even posed for photos, according to Woods.
US Election Results 2020: Progressive AOC Easily Wins Second House Term | New York progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez comfortably secured a second term in Congress with an expected win over her Republican challenger who was outspent despite raising $10 million. John Cummings, 60, hoped fundraising from conservative donors nationwide could propel him past one of the left's most popular stars, but the former police officer and high school teacher was no match for the charismatic 31-year-old representative of parts of the Bronx and Queens.

News Outlets Preach Caution as First Election Results Arrive | Media outlets preached patience as the first Election Day results in the hard-fought campaign between President Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden came in, even as it ran counter to their instincts. A stressed populace and flood of early voting had many observers worried about a chaotic counting process, leading news organizations to warn against jumping to conclusions. Counting could take some time this year, and that's OK, ABC's George Stephanopoulos said at the top of his network's coverage. Not knowing the outcome tonight does not mean the process is broken. It does not mean the election is unfair. What's most important is that every citizen who casts a valid vote gets that vote counted, however long it takes. Because different states will report the early vote at different times and maybe not even Tuesday night the tallies could look significantly weird, said Fox News Channel's Martha MacCallum.
US Election Results 2020: Republicans Hold Texas in Battle for US Senate | As well as the US presidency, Democrats hope to win control of the Senate, where Republicans currently hold a majority of 53 seats in the 100-seat chamber. The battle spans 14 competitive races, though the final outcome may not be clear for some time. That could lead to a new era in U.S. politics, if the party also captures the White House and holds onto the US House of Representatives. Veteran Republican Senator John Cornyn held off a challenge from Democrat M.J. Hegar. Texas, once a Republican stronghold, has grown increasingly competitive in recent years as the population has grown more diverse and Donald Trump's polarizing presidency has alienated suburban women. The state has become a surprise battleground in this year's presidential race, where opinion polls have shown Trump narrowly leading Democrat challenger Joe Biden.
