Kolkata, Nov 4 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in this metropolis tonight on a two-day visit to West Bengal and address BJP karyakartas of south Bengal districts for their preparedness and line of action for party 2021 poll in the state.
Shah reached Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport where BJP leaders like Kailash Vijaybargiya, Arjun Singh and Mukul Roy were present to receive him.
He walked some distance in the airport to wave at his supporters.
After inflicting considerable damage to the ruling TMC in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP is prepping up to wrest power in West Bengal by unseating Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress in the next year assembly poll after the saffron brigade bagged 18 parliament seats out of 42 in 2019
Lok Sabha elections in the state.
"I will be reaching West Bengal tonight on a two days' visit," Amit Shah wrote on his twitter account earlier.
He will go to Bankura Thursday morning as scheduled.
" Looking forward to interacting with our karyakartas of BJP Bengal, beloved people of West Bengal, friends in Media and representatives of different communities," said the Union Home Minister, earlier.
In Bankura, Mr Shah is scheduled to address the BJP karyakartas of south Bengal districts
and separately meet a group of senior citizens and interact with them at the venue of Rabindra Bhawan.
On November 06, Mr Shah is expected to visit Dakshineswar Kali temple and return to the city and then address party leaders and karyakartas regarding election preparedness for the party.
He is also expected to call on classical singer Pt Ajay Chakraborty and then dine with a family of a refugee in the city.
On Friday, Mr Shah has a party programme at EZCC auditorium at Salt Lake where besides party leaders, he will meet people from various sections of the society.
He is expected to fly back to New Delhi on the same night.
