Flank Henco Venter will lead the Sharks in their Super Rugby Unlocked encounter against his former team, the Cheetahs, in Durban on Friday.

Venter takes over the captaincy from regular skipper Lukhanyo Am, who is unavailable for selection due to a hand injury.

Jeremy Ward starts at outside centre in Am's place, with Yaw Penxe taking over from Sbu Nkosi at right wing after the latter was ruled out due to a slight niggle.

Good news for the Sharks is that loose forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe has been cleared fit after missing last weekend's win over the Pumas due to a hamstring strain.

Notshe has been named on a bench laden with forwards, while former Blitzboks star Werner Kok also comes in amongst the substitutes.

Friday's clash at Kings Park is scheduled for 19:00.
