The Cypriot Ministry of Tourism declared government investment to promote the sector

As the tourism sector of Europe got hugely devastate by the ill impacts of the pandemic, several countries are hell-bent on finding out ways to improve it and make it more sustainable as well as resilient to the future predicament. Such has been the way of moving toward for countries that have been largely summer-focused tourist industries like Croatia and Greece.


However, Cyprus is interested to broaden up its horizons by shifting away from the traditional maritime and sea resort industry into something niche and attract tourists throughout the year, which is like its gorgeous mountain ranges and forests and lush green spaces.


As the officials at the Cypriot Ministry of Tourism declared, the government will soon be starting with investing in enhancing country’s infrastructure to improve and diversify its tourism weapon. By being sure that there are numerous viable and desirable options when it comes to summer tourism, authorities are keen to popularize island visits which would make the entire industry more resilient to external shocks and crisis in return, similar to the pandemic.


As per the latest government plans, officials will be working together with the forestry departments for the upgradation of various rest areas in and around Cyprus. Also, shelter for the bikes will be made in different key locations while nature trails will be revamped. Those slated for an upgrade are the ones in Madari, Chorteri, Kyparissia and Lazania, near Machairas Monastery.


These upgrade plans are a part of the overall plan of the government to boost up domestic tourism and offering feasible visiting alternatives to potential travelers. The short-term goals envisioned by authorities have a timetable for being completed by 2030 at the latest.
