Shaurya Chakra awardee Balwinder Singh was gunned down on the directions of a gangster, sources have told The Tribune.
While police officials are tight-lipped over the developments in the case, the sources say investigations so far have hinted at either personal enmity or gang rivalry of his son, ruling out any terror angle as claimed by the family.
The police have detained around 20 persons for interrogation, it is learnt. SSP Dhruman Nimbale refused to divulge details, saying it could hamper the probe.
