Two arrested for duping villager of Rs 2.40 lakh

Palghar, Nov 4 (UNI) The Rural Police on Wednesday arrested two thieves of a gang of four for allegedly cheating a villager of Rs 2.40 lakh by promising to double his money.
On October 1, 2020, four men wooed a villager Nirap Vishwakarma from Vapi of Valsad that they can double the money and shower currency on him. For this, they took the victim to a jungle at Kasa and made a demonstration of doubling of the currency notes.
Later on Oct 14, they asked him to bring more money so that he can gain more. Accordingly, on October 15, when Mr Vishwakarma brought Rs 2.40 lakh with him, the accused took him to the jungle at Kasa, blindfolded him and asked him to hand over the money so that they will double his money by chanting some 'mantras'.
They then took the money from Mr Vishwakarma and fled the scene, police said.
Having realized that he had been duped by the four men, the victim filed a complaint with the Kasa police which was converted into an FIR (first information report) under sections 420 read with 34 of Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the Prevention and Eradication of the Black Magic Act.
The alleged accused have been identified as Suresh Kakad (Mokhada), Raman Bhavar (Dadra Nagar Haveli), Kamlakar Wagh (Juni Jawhar) and Pramod Bhamre.
While Kakad and Bhavar have been arrested on Monday, police are hunting for the other two accused, police said and added that the local Kasa police are probing into the crime.
