CHANDIGARH: The morning sessions in some of the government schools witnessed a drop in attendance. In the second session, the count increased. The UT education department marked 500 more students present on Tuesday, Day 2 of reopening.
On Monday, 3,288 students had attended school, while on Tuesday, the number was 3,795. A principal said: “We had more than 100 students in school on Monday but, on Tuesday, found only 37 in session one. In session two, the tally moved to 70.” Class X accounted for the maximum numbers.
Class-XII student Palak Sood said: “My parents were not ready to send me to school but when I told them that proper classes were on in this phase two of reopening, they consented. Already six months of the academic year have gone waste. I want to focus on my studies now.”
Agamya Sethi of Class XI said: “I want to clear the JEE after Class XII, so I have to work on my basics and know my topics well, for which, regular school is important. The school ensures that we follow social distancing.” On Tuesday as well, all schools followed staggered timings, calling classes X and XII in the first session from 9 to 11.30 and classes IX and XI in the second (noon to 2.30pm).
