Heavy rain likely in southern India in next 24 hours

Pune, Nov 4 (UNI) Rain with isolated heavy falls is very likely over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during next 24 hours, forecast the India Meteorological Department here today.

It further said that thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning, is very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, coastal & south Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the same period.
Rain or thundershowers had battered many places in Arunachal Pradesh and at a few spots in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during past 24 hours.
Isolated locales in Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal & south Interior Karnataka and Kerala were also hit by rain during the same period.
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated quarters over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the same period.
Dry weather prevailed over West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and north Interior Karnataka during the same period.
Night temperatures were markedly below normal in some parts of Vidarbha while appreciably to markedly below par in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Madhya Pradesh.
They were appreciably below norm in some segments of Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch.
They were below par in some locations of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Gujarat Region, Marathwada and Telangana as well in remaining nooks of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.
They were appreciably above normal in some belts of Assam and Meghalaya.
They were above par in some tracts of Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, costal & south Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe as well in remaining sites of Assam and Meghalaya while normal over the rest parts of the country.
The lowest minimum temperature of 8.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Churk (east Uttar Pradesh).
