SALIGAO: A group of Congress workers and supporters protested at Colvale over the bad conditions of the service roads of NH 66 from Patradevi to Bambolim. They later protested outside the highway contractor MVR Infra Project’s office and also at the office of the National Highway Authority at Colvale.
Led by North Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Vijai Bhike, GPCC general secretary Amarnath Panjikar, Saligao block’s secretary Bola Ghadi, Aldona block’s president Ashwin D’Souza, Tivim block’s president Satish Chodankar and Goa Pradesh Youth Congress president Varad Mardolkar, Congress pointed out to deep potholes which make it difficult for commuters to ply.
They alleged that it has also resulted in a number of deaths caused due to accidents.
The group forced an engineer from MVR Infra Projects to come to the road and urged him to give an explanation for the dilapidated condition of the service roads.
“We had warned the government that we would come on the streets if no action was taken to repair the roads,” said Chodankar.
