GREATER NOIDA: Four assailants allegedly abducted a 55-year-old health department official from Firozabad in a car and robbed him of Rs 35,000. Devendra Singh was allegedly picked up near Pari Chowk area, soon after he had got down from a bus from Agra and was waiting to go to Surajpur.
Singh said he had come to meet his brother, Satendra, in Dadri area and had de-boarded the bus around 8am on Tuesday. Satendra said since there was no direct vehicle available for Dadri at that time, Singh thought he would first go to Surajpur and take a commute from there to Dadri.
“A white i10 arrived at the spot and four men were seated inside. They offered him a ride till Surajpur and the one on the driver’s seat claimed that the others were passengers. They persuaded him to sit inside, but my brother soon realised that their intentions were not good. He asked them to stop the car, but they overpowered him and took him towards City Park area. On the way, they beat him up,” Satendra said.
He added that the health department supervisor was slapped repeatedly, because of which he had a swelling in the face. “My brother had come for some shopping and was carrying Rs 35,000 in cash. They snatched the money from him and then drove the car towards the GNIDA office. They dumped him near the jungles of Jaitpur after keeping him in the car for about 20 minutes,” Satendra said.
The four — all aged in their thirties — returned Devendra’s phone to avoid getting traced. He used it to dial 112 and a police vehicle arrived at the spot.
Devendra went to Surajpur police station, where he was told that the spot of crime came under the jurisdiction of Knowledge Park police station since he had boarded the vehicle from Pari Chowk area. It took around four hours for Devendra to lodge a complaint.
Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Vishal Pandey said, “He was sent to Knowledge Park police station and an FIR has been lodged under IPC Section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery). There was no dispute over jurisdiction.”
