NGT sends notice to 14 more states after Delhi-NCR on plea to ban firecrackers

A petition has been filed in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for banning firecrackers. The first hearing has been held on this petition. The second hearing is on 5 November. But before this, the NGT has sent a notice to four states in Delhi-NCR and sought a response. Also, asked whether firecrackers should be banned from 7 to 30 November keeping in mind the public health? But before this hearing, the NGT has made a big change. Now 14 more states have been included in this hearing. Notice has also been sent to them.

While hearing the petition on Tuesday, the NGT issued notices to Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, and Haryana for the next hearing. But now 16 more states have been included in this hearing where the air quality is low. These states are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. Now, these states will also present their side in the hearing to be held on November 5.
