Democratic candidate Joe Biden has come within striking distance of the victory and all eyes are on Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania where votes are still being counted amid massive ‘Count the vote’ protests across the states.

According the latest numbers from The New Yorks Times

In Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has 50.7% of the votes while Biden has 48.1% where 89% of the vote has been counted.

In Georgia too Trump is ahead with 49.6 % of the votes while Biden has 49.2% where 96% of the vote has been counted.

In North Carolina, Trump is ahead with 50.1% votes and Biden have 48.7% of votes where 95% of the vote has been counted.

Biden is ahead in Nevada with 49.3% and Trump is at 48.7% where 86% of the vote has been counted.

Results from these states are likely to come through Thursday evening and early Friday morning IST.

The day after election night incumbent Donald Trump’s path to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency narrowed.

Hundreds gathered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a key battle ground state, demanding that each vote be counted as Trump’s campaign filed a series of lawsuits seeking the counting be stopped.

Huffpost’s Christopher Mathias reported that the protests took place Philadelphia’s Independence Hall and were organised by several progressive groups.

Meanwhile, a CNN report suggested that Maricopa County Elections Department in Arizona was closing because of a large number of protesters gathering outside the building. However, it was later said that the counting would go on.

The national correspondent for CNN, Kyung Lah, also posted videos of right wing protesters gathered outside the building.

Supporters of both the candidates expressed anger and fear as the results remain undivided. While Biden supporters fear the Republican incumbent might not accept the election result if he were to lose, Trump’s supporters echoed his unsubstantiated allegations of widespread electoral tampering, Reuters reported.

The swing states of Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania are still counting votes.

Trump campaign has now filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania, and is expected to do the same in Nevada and North Carolina. The Trump campaign has also called for a recount in Wisconsin.

At the end of election day, Trump had falsely claimed wins in Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina.
