Elgar a class apart as Cobras prove venomous
Opener Dean Elgar stood tall, producing a gritty century at Newlands, as the Titans batting order collapsed thanks to the magic of Cobras all-rounder George Linde.
Elgar, who is a shoo-in for the Proteas Test captaincy later this summer, made a valiant 101 off 143 balls - hitting 15 boundaries.
The Proteas Test batsman struggled to find a suitable partner in the middle with the Titans bundled out for 150 in 51.2 overs.
After his fine contribution with the bat on Day 1, Linde followed up with ball in hand, taking 5/65 in his 18 overs.
Cobras fast bowler Tshepo Moreki haunted his former club as he ended on 3/42 - picking up the final and prized wicket of Elgar.
Cobras brothers Pieter and Janneman Malan strode to the middle with a healthy lead of 114 but paceman Lizaad Williams struck early as he trapped Pieter for 1.
Williams followed soon after with the wicket of Cobras skipper Zubayr Hamza for a duck and Junior Dala saw the back of Tony de Zorzi (5).
Janneman and Kyle Verreynne put on a 50-run third-wicket partnership before Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi sent Janneman packing (35).

Snyman continues dream start to the season
Following his spectacular century before lunch on Monday, Jacques Snyman further showcased his all-round abilities by mopping up the tail with his seamers as the Knights took full control in their meeting with the compromised Warriors in Bloemfontein.
The 26-year-old, who had tongues wagging with a 78-ball 109, finished with figures of 3/29 as the hosts took a 272-run lead, which grew to 298 by the close of play.
The Warriors, weakened by the absence of six players due to Covid-19 protocols, looked particularly brittle in the middle and lower order once the leg-spin of the wily Shaun von Berg started to take hold.
Only Matthew Breetzke (43) and Rudi Second - who remained unbeaten on 35 off 123 deliveries - were able to resist a varied Knights attack.

Erwee glides to classy century
Sarel Erwee confirmed his status as one of domestic cricket's most accomplished if underrated openers with a sparkling century to help the Dolphins put defending champions the Highveld Lions under severe pressure at Kingsmead.
