MUMBAI: Sameet Thakkar, who had posted derogatory remarks against the state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son Aditya Thackeray and minister Nitin Raut on the social media, was produced before a Mumbai court on Tuesday. The court sent him in police custody till November 9.
The man was first arrested by the Nagpur police on October 24. City's VP Road police took him in custody, soon after he was granted bail by a Nagour court on Monday, and brought him to Mumbai.
Apart from VP Road, a FIR is also lodged against Thakkar at BKC police station in Mumbai. He was brought to Mumbai by train.
In July, the VP Road police had filed a case. Thakkar had tweeted objectionable posts on June 1, June 30 and July 1. Thakkar has over 42,700 followers on the microblogging sites.
The Nagpurcourt had released Thakkar on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 and cash surety of Rs 10,000 while imposing other conditions, including a direction not to leave the country without permission.
