Dubbak Assembly constituency records 71.10 pc voting till 1500 hrs

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (UNI) The Dubbak Assembly constituency where polling in bye-election is in progress, amid tight security, saw a voter turnout of 71.70 per cent till 1500hours on Tuesday.
The polling involving a total electorate of more than 1.98 lakh voters which is underway at 315 polling stations will end at 1800 hours.
Queues of voters including women voters who outnumber men voters in the constituency wearing masks were seen at polling stations.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the polling is being conducted observing COVID-19 safety norms including maintaining social distance in the queues and thermal screening of voters before entering polling stations.
Twenty-three candidates including those from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi,the Congress and the BJP are trying their luck in the bye-poll caused by the death of sitting
TRS MLA S.Ramalinga Reddy whose widow S.Sujatha is the TRS nominee for the seat.
The counting of votes polled will be taken up on November 10.

Man sentenced for 3 years jail for injuring woman in family affair

Kakinada, Nov 3(UNI) The second additional judicial first class magistrate Ms K Nagalakshmi delivering the verdict in case relating to attacking a woman , a close relative with a knife and causing stab injury in the quarrel over family affair , has convicted the accused Yerramasetti Durgaprasad (36) and sentenced him to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs.1,000, police said here on Tuesday The prosecution case was that the wife of the accused was estranged and living separately.

Kerala reports 6,862 new COVID cases, 8,802 recoveries: Health Minister
