The deceased was identified as M Devaprasath of Keelakaranai near Maraimalainagar who owned a fast food shop in the locality. Devaprasath was married and have children.

On Sunday evening, Devaprasath went to have drinks with his friends in Tiruvalluvar Nagar. Police said while the friends were having drinks, Viji (24) of the same locality joined with them.

When they were consuming liquor Viji and Devaprasath began to argue with each other and soon the former took a huge stone and attacked the latter on his head. Devaprasath died on the spot due to the impact.

Soon Viji and his friends escaped from the spot and on information, the Maraimalai Nagar police team that arrived at the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu government hospital.

Police after a man-hunt arrested Viji on Monday morning and search is on to nab his friends who were at the spot during the incident.

Police registered a murder case against Viji and have proceeded with further inquiries.
