Ludhiana: The police have arrested three persons, Jagan Parsad, Lakhan Parsad and Parag Deen, all residents of Ambedkar Nagar, for allegedly stealing electric cables from an under-construction building of Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran in Field Ganj. They have been booked under Sections 379 and 427, IPC. Gurbhej Singh of Amarpura had complained to the police that he had seen some persons burning power cables to extract copper on the night of October 28 on the roof of the under-construction gurdwara building. Later, the police nabbed the miscreants and recovered 4 kg of copper wire from them. TNS
Man nabbed for smuggling liquor
Ludhiana: The Sadar police have nabbed Sonu, a resident of Vaddi Jawaddi, while selling liquor on a vacant plot in Basant Avenue near Shiv Vatika Mandir. The police said a raid was conducted on a tip-off and the suspect was arrested with four bottles of Royal Challenge whisky and four bottles of Dollar XXX rum. A case under Sections 61,1 and 14, Excise Act, has been registered.. TNS
Migrant arrested with 3-kg ganja
Ludhiana: The police claimed to have arrested a man, Dina Nath Shah, a migrant from Dost Nagar in Patna district of Bihar and at present residing in the city, with 3 kg of ganja. The police said the suspect was nabbed at a checkpoint at the Onkar Vihar T-point with the contraband that he was carrying in a plastic bag. A case under Sections 20,61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered.. TNS
