Shillong, Nov 3 (UNI) The ‘relationship’ between Israel and India has been “growing rapidly
and steadily” in the past years, Israeli ambassador to India, Dr. Ron Malka said on Tuesday.
“We are advanced in all sectors and agriculture is one of the main backbones of the
Indian economy and as friends, there is strong friendship that is built on mutual trust and
respect,” the Israeli diplomat said after an Indo-Israel Economic Cooperation dialogue on
Horticulture projects with Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
“We want to share all our achievements and developments with India. Israel is going to
increase its presence in the northeast and bring more and more experts, technologies,
and share and collaborate more with the northeast,” he said.
Dr. Malka also informed that Israel government has nominated an honorary consul of
Israel, based in Assam to represent Israel in the valuable and important places and parts
of India.
"We want to see more ties in other sectors that include technology, tourism and culture.
We want to see more ties, more bonds and hopefully in the future we want to see direct
flight from Tel Aviv to the North East,” the Israeli ambassador expressed optimism.
“We want to see much more presence of Israel in this very lovely area (northeastern
states),” he iterated.
