In the spot market, gold prices rose Rs 103 to Rs 51,286 per 10 gram in the national capital on Monday supported by strong global trends and rupee depreciation, according to HDFC Securities. Silver also gained Rs 793 to Rs 62,155 per kilogram.

Globally, gold prices were little changed after rising nearly 1 per cent in the previous session, as caution set in ahead of the U.S presidential elections.

NEW DELHI: Gold and silver future prices slipped in morning trade on Tuesday amid uncertainty over US elections and ahead of the US Federal Reserve meeting scheduled this week.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) will begin its two-day meeting on interest rate policy on Wednesday, with policymakers expected to reaffirm commitment to support the pandemic-struck economy and keep interest rates unchanged.

Gold futures on MCX were down 0.34 per cent or Rs 176 at Rs 50,891 per 10 grams. Silver futures dipped 0.11 per cent or Rs 67 to Rs 61,940 per kg.

Globally, gold prices were little changed after rising nearly 1 per cent in the previous session, as caution set in ahead of the U.S presidential elections.

Spot gold was little changed at $1,892.51 per ounce by 0123 GMT. US gold futures were also little changed at $1,893.00 per ounce.

Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, fell 0.14 per cent to 1,255.92 tonnes on Monday from 1,257.67 tonnes on Friday.

Silver fell 0.3 per cent to $23.97 an ounce. Platinum dropped 0.3 per cent to $856.04 and palladium gained 0.2 per cent to $2,216.45.
