In keeping with the policy of the state government to computerise the working of all government, semi-government and autonomous bodies to achieve efficiency, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) held a meeting with a software development public sector company, MSTC Limited, and discussed the working of various branches so as to get a suitable software developed to computerise the entire working of the trust.

Giving details, the LIT chairman Raman Balasubramanium said the trust officials, led by engineer Buta Ram, discussed the working and requirements of various branches like land acquisition, sale, technical, accounts, legal, water and sewerage with the MSTC officials for making the entire records in digital form so that members of the public could take advantage of the online working.

“Once the records are computerised, the allottees of residential and commercial properties would have no need to visit the office of the trust for day-to-day work and would be able to know the status of their properties, besides having the online facilities of making the payment of instalments, enhancement, other dues, user charges (water and sewerage) and get building plans approved,” the chairman stated.

He said being the largest improvement trust in the state with a vast number of valuable properties, it would become convenient for the LIT to keep track of its properties. The digitisation of records would provide a big relief to the city residents dealing with the trust. The MSTC team had said that very soon they would submit a proposal and details of the software and work would commence towards computerisation after seeking approval from the state government, he added. — OC
