50 structures razed for 5km stretch that will link expressways

Gurgaon: The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on Monday demolished more than 50 structures, including five farmhouses and four villas, to clear the land for proposed national highway that will link Dwarka Expressway with Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari expressway.
The work on the proposed national highway —352B — was held up due to delay in removal of structures coming in the alignment of the 5-km road. The proposed highway will pass though the dividing road of sectors 88A & 88B, sectors 89A & 89B and sectors 95A & 95B. Officials said, it will start from Sector 88A & 88B diving road on Dwarka Expressway and merge with Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari Expressway near Wazirpur village.
“The demolition drive started at 11am and continued till 4pm. The structures were coming in the alignment of the road so the drive was necessary. After acquiring the land, the owners were given the compensation by the authority, for which Monday’s drive saw no disruption,” said SDO (survey) JP Sharma.
The Haryana government has already acquired land for the 46-km-long Gurgaon-Pataudi-Rewari expressway. NHAI had acquired land from 27 villages of Gurgaon and Rewari district, for which the government has started paying the compensation.
Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari had laid the foundation stone of the expressway project through a digital programme on July 14. According to officials, the 46-km-long expressway will cost Rs1,500 crore, and it is expected to be ready by December 2022. The project will be executed by NHAI and it will have 99 culverts, 12 small bridges, one underpass for pedestrian and small vehicles, 13 underpasses, two flyovers and one ROB.
