Case registered against KPCC chief over derogatory remarks against woman

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (UNI) A case was registered against Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mullappally Ramachandran, in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against a woman.
The case was registered at the Women's Police Station here, after the woman filed a complaint before State Director General of Police (DGP) Loknath Behera.
Another case was also filed before the Kerala Women's Commission.
The KPCC chief on Sunday courted a controversy by making a statement against the woman, while speaking at the Congress party's 'betrayal day protest'.
He said the Left Government was trying to misuse a woman, who claimed that she was raped several times, to deviate the attention of the public from the corruption cases and the ongoing probes by various investigation agencies against the Government.
"One can be understood if a woman claims that she was raped once. But, a woman with pride will die if such a thing happened. How she will keep mum continuously to such bad things," he commented.
The ruling party is trying to bring back that woman into the public domain, to deviate public attention from the corruption cases.
The KPCC chief was criticising the ruling LDF after a solar scam accused approached the police, accusing former Congress Minister A P Anil Kumar of raping her.
Later, the KPCC president expressed an unconditional apology in the matter and stated that his statement was not aimed at hurting any woman's sentiments.
