All set for Marwahi assembly by-poll

Raipur, Nov 02 (UNI) All preparations have been completed for the by-polls to Marwahi assembly seat in Chhattisgarh, which slated to be held on Tuesday.

Voting will begin at 0700 hours in the morning amid the tight security arrangements.
According to information received from the State Election Office, all polling parties have been dispatched to polling stations. For remote polling stations, the polling parties were dispatched yesterday. The polling will start at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. As many as 286 booths have been set up for polling.
Total 1 lakh 91 thousand 244 voters can exercise their franchise in this by-poll. Total 93843 men, 97397 women and 4 transgender voters will exercise their franchise. Thermal scanners and sanitisers have been made available in all polling centres in view of COVID situation. Elaborate arrangements have been made to protect polling personnel from COVID infection. Central security forces and state armed police forces have been deployed in polling booths to ensure smooth conduct of polling.
The election was necessitated due to demise of Janta Congress Supremo and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. Since no Janta Congress candidate is in fray in this seat, it is going to witness a direct contest between the ruling-Congress and main opposition party BJP. However, the contest in this seat has become interesting as Janta Congress announced its support to BJP two days back.
